SW & SC Institutional Context - What role does the digipak play in constructing brand/promoting the artist?

Illegal downloading on the internet is becoming more accessible due to technological advances; therefore artists need to provide an exciting and unique digipack with their hard-copy of the CD to entice their target audience into paying for a great package deal of their favourite artist. Some items included with the hard-copy of the C.D are posters, interesting pictures of the band and bonus features on the hard copy such as bonus songs and music videos. These are all items which will sell that band and promote them. Also, the digipak allows the consumer to have a collector’s item. The digipak is now also environmentally friendly as they are made out of cardboard.
